Loss Letters

  • Hadas Gallery 541 Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11205 United States (map)

Writing letters to our deceased has been in practice for centuries. In this workshop we will tap into that ancient tradition and connect to those we’ve lost. Loss in this workshop is broadly defined: a breakup or divorce, severing a toxic friendship or familial relationship, loss of a job or security…and of course the death of a loved one. We experience grief around many different life events.

Writing a letter is part of a letting go process. Many find the practice healing. This workshop will enable you to tap into your memories and write a private, personal Loss Letter in a safe and loving environment.

The workshop structure:

• Intro to letter writing tradition

• Guided memory meditation

• Writing time

• Option to read a portion

• Ceremonial letter destruction

• Closing meditation

Facilitator: Kathleen Cunningham

This event is open to all those who are in the process of grieving the loss of a loved one or want to hold space for those that maybe you never had the opportunity to fully grieve for, family or friend.
