Collaging it all out

  • Repair the World 808 Nostrand Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11216 United States (map)

In these workshops we'll create art that quiets us and opens us, art that invites us to get messy (physically + emotionally) and hopefully art that allows us to channel/shut off/ process/ appreciate the ups and downs that come with living through grief. We'll play around with lots of different materials and techniques to let you find what works for you. Whether it be through large expressive brushstrokes or super small detailed line work, healing is happening. something about the repetition of these movements that hushes all the noise in our brains, and when we're lucky, this peace give space to new ideas (ideas even better than the ones that come to you in the shower).

Typically we think of those collages we would make in middle school but this workshop will challenge you to dig a little deeper, a little weirder, or maybe not (maybe you love your middle school collages and that's TOTALLY cool, no judgement here).  Anyway, we'll look at contemporary collage and explore ways of collaging beyond just cutting and pasting.
